I really wanted to attend a show or presentation at London Fashion Week now that I am back from Australia. I used to live in London so love going back to visit my sister and friends over there and of course do some shopping! If you live in London and love fashion it’s definitely worth popping into the city for the opening of London Fashion Week, even if you don’t have tickets for any shows or presentations. There is a great buzz and lots of fashionistas floating around to draw street style inspo from. Then of course you will also spot fashion designers, muses and various famous faces.
How to attend London Fashion Week
You can get tickets to London Fashion Week catwalks or presentations if you are a designer, press, buyer or marketer. You can also get tickets to events if you qualify as an accredited blogger. In order to gain accreditation as a blogger for LFW you must fulfil certain criteria including having at least 10,000 unique visitors to your blog each month and at least 10,000 combined social media followers. This may not be a viable option for lots of bloggers as they wouldn’t have this traffic or following, especially newer bloggers. Fear not, there is one other way to gain access to some of these exclusive events if you are a blogger or fashionista who would love to attend. Pick designers you love who will be featured in LFW and contact their press office explaining why you would like to attend their show. Designers will have a certain amount of tickets they can give to whomever they choose.
What I wore
I wanted to be comfortable yet stylish, my first outfit was a a 70’s style skirt, ribbed polo, over the knee boots and a Mac. It was a perfect outfit as it was raining for a lot of the day. These over the knee boots were such a good buy you feel so comfortable in them and they enhance every outfit.

Skirt is Primark
Boots are Steve Madden
Bag is Coach
My second outfit has a touch of gothic glamour about it. I wanted to go for a totally different look here with sleek hair and an earcuff. I wore a black jacquard bodysuit, Khaki skinnys and Windsor Smith cut out leather boots to give the outfit some edge.
Top is Bershka
Jeans are Bershka
Ear cuff is Topshop
Boots are Winsdor Smith
The bag is Coach
I was very lucky to come across a really lovely lady in one of the press offices I contacted who made sure I got the opportunity to attend a SS17 presentation. As we know most of the pieces in the LFW are not “ready to wear” but the trends which will be extracted for “ready to wear” looks can be clearly seen. For example in the Alexandra Moura Presentation there was lots of denim, see though panels, statement sleeves and florals. There were also a lot of oversized earnings and a few bomber jackets thrown in there too, so make sure to hold onto that embroidered bomber you’ve just invested in.
Apart from soaking up the SS17 Alexandra Moura collection I was also trying to keep tabs on the amount of ridiculously famous people I was clapping eyes on including Winnie Harlow, Daniel Lismore, Ashley James, Tom Daley, Vogue Williams and Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne Pinnock to name a few.
Key trends from LFW SS17
It’s always good to have the inside track regarding upcoming trends when buying pieces for the season ahead. Although I got to attend an event at LFW that was only a taste of the SS17 offering to come. Therefore, I also had a look at various filmings of runway shows to pick out some key trends. Here they are:
Pinstrips – As seen in the SS17 Mulberry collection
Pyjama trend – As seen in the Markus Lupfer SS17 collection
Floral/graphic garden prints – As seen in the Paul Smith & Alexandra Moura SS17 collections
Ruffles and Lace– As seen in the Preen SS17 collection
Plexiglass, graphic chainmail- As seen in the Mary Katrantzou SS17 collection
Yellow- As seen in the Emilia Wickstead SS17 collection
Gingham- As seen in the Pringle of Scotland SS17 collection
Extravagant/statement sleeves– As seen in the J.W Anderson SS17 collection
Headbands- As seen in the Anya Hindmarch SS17 collection
Statement earnings – These were everywhere and sometimes it was just one statement earring so if you lost one of a pair, don’t throw out the second one just yet!
Finally, a massive thanks to the very talented Aoife O Kelly for the fab pics, find her on Instagram here.
