As you probably know I was nominated for the Hi Magazine “Most Stylish Blogger” Award. As the blog is only live about six months I was delighted to get this nomination.
I wanted to wear something really different. The Ivory Closet let me choose one of their amazing dresses to wear. They are well known for having beautiful occasion dresses, stocking designers such as Rachel Gilbert and Alex Perry. It’s no wonder The Ivory Closet has taken off the way it has, not only are their dresses to die for but all the girls there are so easy going, friendly and very accommodating. It’s a lovely experience to go and pick a dress for your special occasion with The Ivory Closet and it’s in Limerick’s city center so you can pop in for a nice lunch afterwards.
After much deliberation I chose the Alex Perry “Charlotte” dress to wear. Because I have long blonde hair and the dress is full length and white, I wanted to make sure I didn’t look like Rapunzel so I said I would go for edgy make up, hair and accessories, a sort of gothic glamour look.
I got my Shellac nails done in Lavish Looks in Patrickswell. The CND Shellac colour I chose was “Black Pool” and I went for an Almond shape. If you are getting false nails for the first time, or thinking of changing from one type to another, have a read of my blog post all about Shellac, Gel, Acrylic and SNS nails here. I wanted to bring the edgy look into my hairstyle so got it blowdried very sleek with a bit of volume at the crown. The Salon in the Maldron hotel did my hair, they are very good and very reasonable.
A lot of the accessories I wore to the awards night are from Australian shops (I moved back from Australia this year). I went for statement black and gold earrings from a shop called Colette, my midi rings are also from Colette and my statement black and gold ring is from Asos. The black box clutch added another pop of black and could also be worn over the shoulder as it had a gold chain strap.
I recently bought a pair of BCBG Generation shoes in TK Maxx which are very similar to the Valentino Rockstud shoes, they are a neutral colours and are encrusted with studs. I feel they suited the gothic glamour look I was going for perfectly. As these shoes are all leather and not too high they were perfect for the occasion.
I had a black cape style jacket at home which was ideal with the dress. The crop jacket was short enough to show off the beautiful skirt of the dress. Would you believe, this black jacket is from Zara but I picked it up in a charity shop in London. I was actually going to my sister’s graduation in Twickenham and didn’t bring a jacket, by the time I had made my way to Twickenham I was absolutely freezing and there was only one shop where you could buy anything to wear, the charity shop. I went in thinking I would find nothing suitable and came out with this little gem!
My date for the night was my good friend Alice so we had great fun.
I hope you enjoyed this post and that it has given you inspiration for any balls/weddings/special occasions you may have coming up over the festive season. O xx
