Happy Wednesday everyone, I hope you all had a fab weekend. I met some friends from college over the weekend and saw the family including my adorable niece who I am totally obsessed with. Yes she does dominate my snapchat anytime I’m home. So all in all, a good weekend.
Last week I attended the River Island Spring Summer 2017 press day where they showcase their Spring Summer collection. Some pieces are already in store and some are due to come in from February onwards. If you have read some of my last few posts on Spring Summer collections you will get a feel for the trends which will be most prominent. There are a lot of similar trends but brought to life in quite different ways. High street retailers will always have similar trends in their collections but will focus on some trends more than others, giving the shopper a great selection. I suppose that’s why everyone has certain shops where they always get pieces they love, because that shop is in line with their personal style. I know I definitely have some shops where I always pick up something that I like. For me, River Island is one of those shops.
What I wore
The blush pink silk shirt is from Zara.
The jeans are second skin from Warehouse.
The belt is from River Island.
The boots are from Oasis (they have a gold heel but you can’t see that in this picture).
The bag is Coach and the Pom Pom is Primark.
Anyway down to it. So in this post I want to show you some pictures of the collection, run through the trends River Island have focused on and share some of my favourite pieces from the collection.
Lots of embroidery and detail in the pieces.
Ruffles and Victorian necklines
A lot of ruffles and Victorian style detail, in sleeves, trousers, waists, blouses and necklines.
Pretty floral prints in jackets, dresses and tops and even shoes.
Beading and sequins
Two of my favourite beaded pieces were these fab shorts and the playsuit featured at the bottom of the post. These beaded shorts would be really cute paired with flat summer sandals or heels for a dressier look.
Pinky nude colours
Metallic was featured quite a bit but not to the same extent as last year.
I am a big fan of chokers. River Island are seriously killing it on the choker front this Spring Summer.
Backpacks are already super popular, I wear my black leather one all the time. River Island have got some cute ones coming in.
Some of my favourite pieces
If I had to pick some of my fave pieces it would have to be the beaded playsuit, just stunning, the pink blouse with the ruffle detail and this blue top with bell sleeves, I love this trend. There was also a fab green jumpsuit which I adored but didn’t get a great picture of of it to show you all. Look out for it though, it’s stunning.
I hope you enjoyed this overview and are as excited as I am about the Spring Summer collections arriving.
Happy Shopping, O xx
